Advocating for people with disabilities

On The Road…

On Wednesday, May 14, 2014 I attended the Anthony Brown (currently Lt. Governor) and Ken Ulman fundraiser event. President Clinton endorsed Anthony Brown in race for Governor of Maryland. The fundraiser was held in Potomac, Maryland. While there, I was able to network with Congressmen Thomas McMillian, Mayor Peter Fosselman, and Gloria Lawlah, Secretary of Aging, to mention a few. I was very excited to take a picture with President William “Bill” Clinton.

On May 9, 2014 I had the pleasure of serving with Kourtney, Ms. Wheelchair DC 2014, at the Mother’s Day Pamper with a Purpose event. Mothers with disabilities were treated to a wide array of spa and beauty services at the American Beauty Academy located in Wheaton, Maryland. I have enjoyed the relationship between the American Beauty Academy and Ms. Wheelchair Maryland Organization. Our ladies enjoyed the experience. A special thank you to the American Beauty Academy for hosting this event.

On Friday, May 2nd Medstar National Rehabilitation Network hosted Las Vegas Night! There were gaming tables featuring Roulette, Black Jack, Texas Hold’em Poker and more! The evening also included a silent auction and raffle as well as great food and music — all benefiting programs and services for patients and the disability community.

On April 12th I had the pleasure of participating in the World of Possibilities Disabilities Expo. I enjoyed sharing Ms. Wheelchair Maryland information with the public. There were a lot of vendors and attendees at this expo. I had an opportunity to meet the Horizon Theater Group. This talented theater troop has a broad range of abilities, but their passion to perform unites them. I spent time with Jr. Ms. Wheelchair Maryland 2014, Dominique Ingram.

On December 12, 2013 the National Rehabilitation Hospital had their annual holiday party. It was a pleasure mingling with my therapist and current patients.  At this event I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Wheelchair DC 2014. The National Rehabilitation Hospital is an aggressive therapeutic Hospital which aims to restore as much function to their patients.  The dedicated staff work with patients  and their families to ensure a positive outcomes.
