MS. WHEELCHAIR AMERICA COMMENT ON REMOVAL OF FORMER MS. WHEELCHAIR WISCONSIN, 2005.

"The Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin organization, a member of the Ms. Wheelchair America orgnaization,  has asked Ms. Janeal Lee to step down as its state representative because she did not fulfill a major requirement expected of a state titleholder," confirmed Gail McKoon, Ms. Wheelchair America President.

Ms. Lee was made aware of her duties in advance in order to comply with the national organization's regulations.  The Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin organization asked Ms. Lee to step down because they recognized she would not be eligible to continue to compete for the national title.

State titleholders in the Ms. Wheelchair America program serve at the discretion of the state organizations.  This is a Wisconsin state titleholder issue and it does not reflect on the current national Ms. Wheelchair America or other state titleholders.

"We support our state coordinators and their organizations and trust that they will follow our established guidelines," said Ms. McKoon.

Ms. Wheelchair America is not a beauty pageant, but a program designed to spotlight the accomplishments of women who use wheelchairs.  This mission of the national program, celebrating its 33rd Annual Pageant in July in Albany, New York, is to provide a platform for women who use wheelchairs to advocate for people with disabilities
